Award Winner in the category "Women and Men of Science"

With my entry "Science during a pandemic" in the SNFS Swiss National Science Foundation's annual Scientific Image Competition (2021) I received an award in in the category "Women and Men of Science".

Besides my studies in Environmental Science at ETH Zürich, I worked as an research assistant at Switzerland's federal Entomological Collection digitizing the Palearctic insect holdings, where I took this picture of Melissa Whitaker. She studies how diet shapes butterflies’ distribution, morphology and behaviour, especially butterflies that feed on poisonous plants.

I am very happy to contribute my video material to the amazing documentary "THE ICEFIELD - An expedition memoir", edited by the talented Caroline Wexler (JIRP student 2022).

Bringing my camera (Sony alpha 7 III) to the Juneau Icefield Research Program, I not only took a lot of pictures to document the expedition life, research and incredibly beautiful but fragile polar environment, but also filmed along the way.

"We did come to the Juneau Icefield as strangers, but we know it fairly well now. We know where things are, we know what to look out for, we're not strangers there anymore. But if we come back in like 10 or 15 years, especially with climate change, we might be strangers there again."
